Lyon Projected Versus Actual Release
Kentucky uses “Projected Release Date” as an exact KOOL field. It is a sentence calculation based on the information then posted to the state record. An actual release is a completed custody event documented by a jail release sheet or a dated Kentucky DOC Daily Releases transaction. The two dates can match, but they serve different purposes.
A person awaiting trial generally has no fixed release date. Bond may be posted, a judge may change conditions, a charge may be dismissed, or another authority may lodge a hold. For a Lyon arrest, first call the Sheriff to learn which jail received the person because the official Lyon County Jail entry is closed. The receiving jail and Lyon court record control that local path.
Find a Lyon Projected Release Date
Use KOOL for a Kentucky state prisoner at Kentucky State Penitentiary, Western Kentucky Correctional Complex, or another KY DOC institution. KOOL offers name, aliases, DOC and PID numbers, location, supervision, offense, sentence, and a Projected Release Date range. Too many filters can produce a false no-result. Recent offender data may also be unfinished, so a facility, court order, or written DOC record should settle a material conflict.
Kentucky Credits Shape Lyon Release Dates
KRS 197.045 governs credits for eligible state prisoners. The calculation can include prior-confinement credit, specified education or vocational completions, qualifying treatment or life-skills programs, good behavior, and exceptionally meritorious service. The law permits up to ninety days for certain program completions, up to ten days per month for good behavior, and up to seven days per month for qualifying meritorious service.
Credits other than prior confinement may be denied or forfeited after institutional offenses. Consecutive sentences are combined for calculation. For a state inmate housed in a participating county jail, 501 KAR 2:060 addresses applicable statutory, meritorious, educational, and approved program credits. Those state rules should not be applied automatically to a purely local misdemeanor term.
Credit rules are detailed and record-specific. The posted projection, not a homemade subtraction, is the safer starting point.
Why Lyon Release Projections Change
A projection moves when the facts used in the sentence calculation move. Some changes shorten the term, while others extend the date or change where the person goes next. A detainer can allow one sentence to end yet keep the person in another authority’s custody.

Confirm Lyon County Actual Release
For a state prisoner, compare KOOL’s current status with the exact-date Daily Releases report. Preserve the report’s “Released From” and release-type fields. Parole, mandatory reentry supervision, conditional discharge, minimum expiration, and discharge with detainer do not mean the same thing.

A hearing may take place before eligibility, and processing or placement can remain after a recommendation. If a proposed date passes without a Daily Releases entry, check updated KOOL status and request the final Board order. Do not substitute the hearing date for the release date.
Lyon Violent-Offender Date Limits
KRS 439.3401, effective July 15, 2026, generally requires a covered violent offender serving years to serve at least eighty-five percent before specified forms of early release. Current subsection five restricts covered people to prior-confinement credit under the cited credit law. Some life cases carry a twenty-year minimum.
The statute’s definitions, offense date, offense category, and other exceptions decide whether the rule applies. It must not be treated as a universal Lyon County formula. Read the current judgment and DOC calculation rather than applying eighty-five percent to every sentence.

Lyon Parole Review Is Separate
Parole eligibility is governed by KRS 439.340 and 501 KAR 1:030. The rules use sentence length, offense, prior status, and other factors. They decide when review may occur, not the day a person must leave custody.
The Kentucky Parole Board conducts weekly eligibility hearings and posts monthly schedules. A person can appear on a list before the projected sentence date. Outcomes may include deferment, serve-out, declined parole, or a recommendation. Even a favorable outcome can require placement, conditions, processing, and a final order.
Read the KOOL parole table beside the sentence fields. Hearing Date identifies review. Hearing Action records the result. Months Deferred and Next Parole Eligibility Date concern later review. Proposed Release Date relates to the action. Projected Release Date remains the sentence calculation. The dated Daily Releases report is stronger evidence of an actual KY DOC exit.
Lyon Local and State Dates
A Lyon arrest does not identify the right system. The Sheriff may transport a local detainee to another county because Lyon’s jail entry is closed. That person’s bond, dismissal, sentence, or probation order appears in the Lyon court case, while the receiving jail controls the exact exit time.
A state prisoner housed in Lyon County follows the KY DOC path even when convicted elsewhere. Kentucky State Penitentiary and Western Kentucky Correctional Complex releases are checked through KOOL, Daily Releases, VINE, and DOC records. Movement between WKCC, Ross-Cash operations, or another institution is a transfer, not community release.

Detainers Change Lyon Release Meaning
A detainer gives another authority a basis to take custody. When Daily Releases states “Discharged - Minimum/Detainer,” the KY DOC event may be complete while custody continues elsewhere. It is inaccurate to call that a community release without checking the destination.
Request the transfer record naming the receiving authority. Use BOP for known federal custody and ICE only when a record supplies an immigration link. VINE may announce departure from the first institution while the person remains confined under the hold.
Date alone answers when one agency acted, not whether all custody ended.
Read Lyon Daily Release Fields
The statewide Daily Releases archive is organized by month and exact date. Reports include DOC number, name, release type, Released From, and sometimes highest felony class. It can document a state-sentenced person leaving a prison or county jail, but it is not a Lyon local feed.
Search around the projection and preserve the full release label. Minimum expiration, parole, conditional discharge, shock probation, mandatory reentry supervision, and minimum expiration with detainer support different conclusions. Released From identifies the institution that ended custody, not always the next destination.
If no transaction appears, check for a changed projection, identifier variation, delayed processing, or a release beyond KY DOC scope. Request the final record when the difference remains.
Resolve Lyon Date Conflicts
Official sources can carry different dates without being false. A court may sign an order before jail processing. A parole proposal can predate exit. KOOL can update after a dated report.
Preserve each label, date, agency, and event. Use the custody log or Daily Releases for physical departure, the signed order for the legal basis, and KOOL plus the office for current supervision. Request the underlying calculation when those roles do not resolve the conflict.
Request Lyon Sentence Calculations
A written sentence calculation is the strongest fallback when KOOL’s projection cannot be reconciled with the judgment or known custody credit. Identify the person by name and DOC number, state the date range, and request the existing calculation and release record through the KY DOC open-record process. The request should seek records, not ask staff to create a new legal conclusion.
Compare the response with the judgment, posted credits, forfeitures, and consecutive or concurrent sentence treatment. If parole is involved, request the final Board order separately. Preserve the projection date on which each source was viewed because later credit or sentence changes can produce a valid new projection without making the earlier screen inaccurate for its time.
A projection should always be quoted with its source and access date. That small detail keeps a later recalculation from appearing to be an unexplained contradiction.
