Terms Entered in Search Tools
A name, place, or other detail entered into a search box is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Lyon County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider may process the query under its separate privacy policy, so review that policy before submitting information.
Messages Sent to Us
When you email us or use a contact form, we retain the message and the contact details supplied with it so we can respond. We do not share that correspondence outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law, a court order, or another valid legal process.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Like most web services, our systems may receive basic technical and usage details each time a page loads. This data helps operate, secure, and improve the site. It can include:
- the internet protocol address used for the request;
- browser name and version;
- device category and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent on them;
- the referring website, when available; and
- the date and time of the request.
Cookies and Similar Storage
Cookies may be used to understand how visitors move through the site and to support features supplied by service partners. Most browsers let users block or delete cookies. If cookies are disabled, some functions or partner services may respond differently or may not work as expected.
How Information Is Used
Information is processed only for ordinary site operations and related services. These uses include:
- keeping pages available, secure, and responsive;
- sending a search request to the selected partner service;
- measuring which Lyon County release-record resources visitors find useful;
- diagnosing errors, abuse, and technical failures; and
- displaying advertising that may be selected according to likely interests.
Websites Beyond Our Control
Links may lead to the Lyon County Sheriff, Kentucky Department of Corrections, Kentucky courts, release-record portals, federal locators, and independent search tools. Kentucky public-record access may be governed by the Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, but each agency controls its own records and privacy practices. Once a visitor follows an outside link, that destination's policy applies.
Advertising companies and their service partners may use technology on their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select interest-based advertising. We do not control the tracking choices, retention rules, or privacy settings used by those outside networks.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may still be processed by a limited group of services or authorities when needed for site functions or required by law:
- search partners that receive and answer a submitted query;
- analytics providers that measure site use;
- advertising networks that deliver or measure ads; and
- law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Security Measures
We use customary safeguards intended to protect information against unauthorized access, misuse, or loss. No website, network, storage service, or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. We therefore cannot promise that a breach, interception, or technical failure will never occur.
Visitors Younger Than 18
This service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent, guardian, or minor believes that a young person submitted personal data, use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the limits of what we retain, a person may make the following requests:
- ask for a copy of personal data held about them;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- request deletion of retained personal information; or
- object to or opt out of certain forms of processing.
These choices apply to data controlled by us. A search provider, government portal, analytics service, or advertising network handles requests under its own process.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this Privacy Notice as practices, services, or legal requirements change. An updated version takes effect when posted here with a revised effective date. Continued use after publication means the revised notice applies to later activity.
